Important ESP32 voltage connection

• Seeed specifies a 5 V supply for Grove Line Finder v1.1. Use a suitable level shifter between its SIG output and a 3.3 V ESP32 GPIO.
• Expected v1.1 threshold polarity: HIGH for black/weak reflection, LOW for white/stronger reflection. Surface finish, spacing and ambient light affect the result.
• The signal is digital reflectance classification, not a calibrated distance reading. Use the linked stationary black/white test before motor control.

Описание

Grove-Line finder is designed for a line-following robot. It has an IR emitting LED and an IR-sensitive phototransistor. It can output a digital signal to a microcontroller so that the robot can follow a black line on a white background or vice versa.

Those eye-like sensors on the board are actually IR emitting LED and sensitive phototransistors. When the phototransistor detects the reflected infrared light from the IR emitting LED, it will output a digital signal, which changes from HIGH to LOW.
