A consistent PCB, BOM, placement and drawing package helps confirm the scope of a PCB assembly order.
Prepare the assembly file set

| PCB fabrication files | Gerber and drill package for the exact revision to be assembled. |
| BOM | Reference designators, quantity per board, complete manufacturer part numbers, descriptions and packages. |
| Placement (CPL / pick-and-place) | Reference, X/Y, rotation and side, with explicit units and coordinate origin. |
| Assembly drawing | Pin 1, polarity, connector direction and any special assembly instructions. |
| DNP and exclusions | Mark do-not-populate positions and any parts or operations outside the requested scope. |
| Testing and programming | State any functional test, firmware, fixture, pass criteria or reporting needs for review. |
Check all files against one revision
- Use the same revision identifier across the PCB, BOM, placement data and assembly drawing.
- Match designators and populated quantities across all files.
- State top and bottom sides clearly.
- Explain any mismatch before requesting a quote; do not rely on an older email attachment being replaced automatically.
Confirm component supply and substitutions
Specify whether you want parts sourced for the order or wish to supply them. Confirm stock, permitted alternatives, handling requirements and acceptance of customer-supplied parts in writing before purchasing or shipping anything.
