- TP8485E half-duplex RS485 breakout for a matching XIAO controller; RS485 electrical signaling does not itself define a Modbus register protocol.
- For the manufacturer XIAO ESP32-C3 example: UART RX is GPIO7/D5, TX is GPIO6/D4 and direction enable is GPIO4/D2. Other XIAO processors have different GPIO mappings.
- Identify the 5 V IN/OUT switch and the 120 ohm termination switch before connecting a bus. Do not join independently powered 5 V outputs.
- Begin with two USB-powered test nodes and A/B/GND wiring; choose any external load supply separately according to its actual requirements.
