PCB Files & Manufacturing

Prepare a Gerber fabrication package

Prepare one clearly identified fabrication revision, with Gerber layers, drill data and the specifications needed for a PCB quotation.

Updated Nov 1, 2026 · 1 min read

For PCB fabrication

Use this checklist for bare PCB enquiries. For assembly, include the assembly file set as well.

Prepare one final fabrication package

Deliverable Check before submitting
Copper and board outline Include every copper layer and one clearly identified closed board outline. Remove obsolete revisions.
Drill data Include drill files and identify plated / non-plated holes where applicable.
Mask and legend Label top and bottom files consistently. Make any intentional omissions explicit.
Specifications State dimensions, layers, quantity, material, thickness, finish and any special requirements. Confirm supported options against PCB Capabilities.
Special instructions Identify controlled impedance, stack-up requirements, slots, cut-outs or panel details explicitly; request confirmation for the actual order.

Example folder structure

These are illustrative names, not a required naming standard or a manufacturing-ready design.

ProjectName_RevB/
fabrication/ (Gerber layers and board outline)
  drill/ (drill data)
  requirements.txt
assembly/ (only when assembly is required)

Avoid common submission errors

  • Do not mix RevA and RevB files in one ZIP.
  • Match the dimensions in your order to the final board outline.
  • Distinguish a single board from a panel; see panel requirements.
  • A successful upload or visual preview does not itself confirm manufacturability or final pricing. Resolve questions through quote and file review.
